ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A NJ Transit bus was involved in a crash that occurred during a police pursuit Sunday afternoon in East Orange, according to Daily Voice.
The collision took place at the corner of Springdale Avenue and Arlington Avenue, near the Garden State Parkway overpass, at about 12:00 p.m.
Little information has been provided regarding the sequence of events, but an SUV was fleeing law enforcement when it crashed. Shortly after, the vehicle’s three occupants fled the scene. At one point, an officer fire a gunshot and the NJ Transit bus veered off the roadway and ended up on the front lawn of a residence.
At this time, no injuries have been reported in the incident.
Authorities had the intersection shut down as crews worked to clear the scene and as the initial investigation was conducted. A flatbed tow truck removed the SUV from the site as evidence to be processed.
The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is expected to review a preliminary report of the events, as require by the state.
