NEWARK, NJ – Three suspects were apprehended after stealing a luxury car and leading a chase on Interstate 80 on Tuesday, according to a story on NJ.com.
The owner’s son of a Jaguar observed the thieves steal the vehicle from Ripplewood Drive at about 10:30 p.m. He started to follow them in another vehicle.
Police were also alerted to the incident and soon after a New Jersey State Trooper saw the stolen vehicle on Interstate 80 in Denville. He also gave chase, with his lights and sirens on, but the driver refused to stop.
The pursuit came to an end the suspects crashed near Exit 1 of Interstate 280 in Parsipinnany. Two passengers and a driver piled out of the stolen Jaguar and ran from the scene on foot. A helicopter and K-9 unit were called in to assist with the search. A dog named Ollie apprehended one of the suspects.
The 27-year-old male driver, the 22-year-old male passenger were quickly caught. They have been charged with eluding, resisting arrest, and receiving stolen property. The second passenger, a 22-year-old female was released after being charged with hindering. Further charges are still pending.
The owner’s son was on the scene when the stolen vehicle crashed.
