RUTHERFORD, NJ – Multiple people, including a tow truck driver and a pregnant woman, were injured after a series of crashes on Route 3 in Rutherford yesterday, according to the Daily Voice.
The first crash happened on westbound Route 3 near Park Avenue at around 9:45 p.m. last night, when two vehicles collided.
Another driver then collided with a second vehicle, then came speeding down the shoulder of the road, after authorities had blocked off multiple lanes of the highway while responding to the first crash. The driver nearly struck multiple people before crashing into the vehicle that a tow truck driver, a 31-year-old Ridgefield Park resident, was working on.
He needed to be rescued from beneath the vehicle before being taken to the hospital in Hackensack with critical injuries.
A pregnant occupant of one of the vehicles involved in the second crash was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The striking driver in the follow-up crash sustained non-critical injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
One person involved in the initial accident was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
