PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — Several people were injured Sunday evening due to a rollover crash involving a police vehicle in downtown Paterson, reports local media.

The collision occurred at the corner of Main Street and Ward Street, just north of the Little Lima neighborhood. Emergency responders and rescue teams were called to the scene at about 5:35 p.m.

Officials have not detailed the sequence of events leading up to the crash, but crews arrived to find an overturned vehicle. A squad car was also found to have crashed into a pole after losing control.

One person in the rolled vehicle suffered “non-fatal injuries.” Two ambulance units were observed in the area for other patients who sustained injuries considered non-life-threatening. It was unclear how many people had to be transported to a hospital, but officers said they received no reports of severe injuries.

An investigation into the cause of the accident remains ongoing.
