Motorcyclist killed in collision near Irvington intersection

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A 34-year-old Newark man died Tuesday night after his motorcycle collided with a car in Irvington Township, according to local media.

Irvington Township Police were called to the area of Chancellor Avenue and Essex Street shortly before 8:45 p.m.

The circumstances of the collision were not immediately clear, but officers and first responders discovered the rider lying on the roadway after being ejected from his motorcycle. The significantly damaged bike was found nearby.

Authorities said the victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

No information on the other driver has been released, but they were not reported injured in the event.

At this time, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office continues to investigate.
