OCEAN COUNTY, NJ — A 27-year-old man was fatally injured Wednesday when he collided with a tree while riding a motorcycle in Manchester Township, according to Daily Voice.
The accident occurred off Pasadena Road, near the intersection with Buckingham Road. Manchester Township Police responded to the scene at around 4:35 p.m.
Investigators said the victim, Robert Trout, of Lacey Township’s Lanoka Harbor area, was operating a 2017 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Pasadena Road. As he tried to pass another vehicle, he lost control of the motorcycle, which veered off the roadway and hit a tree. Authorities said the rider was thrown off the bike in the impact of the crash.
Police and first responders arrived on the scene to find Trout with severe injuries and motorcycle significantly damaged on the grass shoulder near the wood-line. Officials noted that no other rider was involved, and that Trout was wearing an approved helmet at the time of the wreck.
The victim was administered life-saving measures at the scene and then rushed by ambulance to Southern Ocean Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
Part of Pasadena Road was shut down for an extended time during the response and investigation.
