UNION COUNTY, NJ — A 64-year-old man was fatally injured early Thursday when he was struck by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter in Mountainside, according to local media.
The incident occurred at the intersection of U.S. Route 22 and New Providence Road. Mountainside Police were called to the scene at around 4:35 a.m. after receiving a report of a pedestrian hit by a motor vehicle.

Officers, who arrived to find the victim in the roadway, initiated life-saving measures. First responders rushed him to Overlook Medical Center in Summit, where he was pronounced deceased.
