BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 61-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday afternoon after an out-of-control SUV hit him and slammed into a building in Englewood, reports Daily Voice.
The incident occurred at 104 Grand Avenue, near the intersection with Chester Place, just after 4:30 p.m.
According to Englewood Police, the victim, of Hackensack, was removing items from the back of a 2000 Ford Explorer that was parked along Chester Place. At one point, the vehicle struck him as it sped in reverse across the street, crashing into a building that houses the headquarters of ESU Farm, a global produce importer.
First responders initially rushed the victim to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, from where he was later taken by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center. Authorities said though his injuries are serious, they were not considered life-threatening.
No other injuries were reported in the event.
At this time, an investigation by the Englewood Police Traffic Unit remains ongoing.
