Man hit, killed by vehicle in Freehold Township crosswalk

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — A man visiting from Guyana died last Monday, January 9, after being hit by a vehicle in Freehold Township, reports Daily Voice.

The fatal incident occurred at the intersection of Route 9 and Schibanoff Lane at about 7:00 a.m.

Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances behind the crash, but the victim was in a designated pedestrian crosswalk when he was struck by a driver in a southbound vehicle. He died from his injuries at the scene.

At this time, an investigation remains underway. The case is being handled by multiple agencies, including Freehold Township Police’s Serious Crash Reconstruction Unit, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, as well as the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (SCART).
