HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — An 81-year-old man died Saturday night after being crushed while changing a vehicle’s oil in Jersey City, reports local media.
Hudson County officials said the traumatic incident occurred at 198 Hopkins Avenue, a residence in The Heights. Jersey City Police and first responders were dispatched to the scene at about 7:14 p.m.
Officers immediately implemented jacks to lift the car, which had fallen on the man. After the unresponsive victim was removed from underneath the vehicle, he was administered aid and then rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
No further information has been disclosed at this time, as an investigation remains in progress. Authorities said no criminality is suspected as of this writing.
