HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A man died Saturday afternoon after his motor-scooter collided with a fuel truck off Interstate 495 in North Bergen, according to local media.
The North Bergen Police Department said the crash happened near the entrance ramp to westbound I-495, in the area of John F. Kennedy Boulevard and 32nd Street. Dispatchers got the call just before 3:45 p.m.
An early investigation indicates the man was operating a Transpro motor-scooter toward the ramp when the scooter hit the rear passenger tires of a Freightliner fuel truck.
Authorities said the operator of the scooter succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Though the fuel truck continued away from the scene, both the vehicle and the driver were later found nearby.
At this time, no arrests have been reported. An investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department remain ongoing.
