SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — A 27-year-0ld Hillsborough man died Monday night after a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 78 in Warren Township, reports local media.
According to New Jersey State Police, the fatal accident occurred on the eastbound lanes near milepost 34.8.
A preliminary investigation shows the victim was driving a Dodge pickup truck eastbound when he rear-ended an eastbound Tesla. The impact of the crash sent the Tesla to the left of the roadway where it hit a metal guardrail, while the Dodge was pushed off the roadway before it struck multiple trees and rolled over.
Officials said the driver of the Dodge was ejected in the collision and died from his injuries.
It was unclear whether the driver of the Tesla was significantly hurt.
Authorities continue to investigate.
