CAPE MAY COUNTY, NJ — A 24-year-old man was killed early Saturday when his motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle in Middle Township, according to Daily Voice.
The fatal accident occurred on New Jersey Route 9 at Church Street, a block north of the Cape May County Courthouse. Middle Township Police were called to the scene at about 1:56 a.m.
While authorities have not disclosed a possible cause of the crash, officers learned the man had been operating a motorcycle that was also carrying a 23-year-old female passenger.
The motorcycle operator, a resident of North Cape May, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, confirmed officials.
His passenger, also of North Cape May, was rushed to Cape Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
No one in the SUV was reported hurt.
A section of Route 9 was shut down for nearly four hours during an investigation, which continues to be led by the Middle Township Fatal Crash Team, Major Crimes Unit, and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
