Man dies after car hits trees off GSP in Cape May County

CAPE MAY COUNTY, NJ — A 74-year-old man died Saturday afternoon after a crash on Garden State Parkway near the unincorporated community of Cape May Courthouse, reports Daily Voice.

The fatal wreck happened on the southbound parkway at milepost 12.4, about a mile south of Avalon Boulevard, at about 4:20 p.m.

New Jersey State Police said a Neptune man was driving a Volvo southbound, when, for reasons still unknown, the vehicle veered off the roadway and hit two trees.

The male driver died from his injuries at the scene, confirmed officials. No other identifying information has been released at this time.

The NJSP has not reported any other injuries, and no other vehicles appear to have been involved.
