BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A man was hospitalized Wednesday night after a pedestrian crash on New Jersey Route 17 in Ramsey, according to Daily Voice.

The incident occurred on the southbound highway in front of Joe Heidt Motors Corp. Volkswagen, just after 7:30 p.m.

Few details have been released at this time, but Ramsey Police said several drivers stayed at the scene after the victim was hit. It was not immediately clear how many vehicles were involved in the event.

The victim, a man believed to be in his 20s, suffered “severe head trauma,” in addition to other injuries. First responders transported him by airlift to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson.

A section of Route 17 was blocked in both directions south of Lake Street during the emergency response.
