BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A hit-and-run pedestrian crash early last Wednesday in Teterboro left a 75-year-old Paterson resident seriously injured, reports local media.

The incident occurred at the junction of Industrial Avenue and U.S. Route 46 on September 13, at about 4:40 a.m. Moonachie Police were dispatched to the scene shortly after.

Officials have not released a sequence of events leading up to the crash, but the elderly victim, who was found with serious injuries after being hit by an SUV, was rushed to Hackensack University. At the time of the emergency response, the driver had already fled the area.

Further investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Moonachie Police Department later led to the arrest of 60-year-old Tae Lee, a resident of Fort Lee. Lee faces a number of charges that include “third-degree knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury.” He was also issued summonses for leaving the scene and neglecting to report the accident.

Though Lee is currently out of custody on his own recognizance, he is expected to make his first court appearance at Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
