BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — One person lost their life early Wednesday following a wrong-way collision on U.S. Route 130 in Willingboro, according to Daily Voice.

The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office said the wreck occurred in the 4200 block of the northbound highway on October 18, at around 12:30 a.m.

An early investigation shows that a driver in an SUV was traveling in the wrong direction in the northbound lane when the vehicle hit a sedan head-on. Authorities said the force of the crash caused the sedan to burst into flames.

The driver and sole occupant of the sedan was pronounced deceased.

The sedan was then struck from behind by a third car, whose driver was not reported hurt.

First responders transported the driver of the SUV to Camden’s Cooper University Hospital. Though the extent of their injuries was not disclosed, they are expected to survive.

No charges have been filed at this time, as an investigation remains ongoing. The Willingboro Township Police Department urges any witnesses or anyone with information to reach investigators via the tip line at 609-877-6958 or email at tips@co.burlington.nj.us.
