Grocery store in Lakewood burns down

LAKEWOOD, NJ- A Picnic grocery store in Lakewood caught on fire and burned down on early Sunday, causing hundreds of evacuations, according to Daily Voice.

At approximately 4:30am, officials responded to a two-alarm fire at 357 Squankum Road, which was the Picnic grocery store. The two story building was entirely engulfed in the flames, as well as heavy smoke and fire visible from a distance. Approximately 250 people nearby were evacuated due to fears of the fire spreading.

It was under control by 7:30am.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Information on any potential injuries and the incident is pending. We will be monitoring for updates.
