RIDGEWOOD, NJ – An elderly woman was killed in a fire at a senior housing complex in Ridgewood last night, according to information from the Daily Voice.
The incident occurred at the Ridgecrest Senior Housing development, located at 7-11 Ridge Road, at around 7:30 p.m.
The fire broke out at the victim’s apartment, which was located at the back of the facility.
The victim, identified as a woman in her 70s, was pronounced dead after the incident.
Some of the residents of the complex were sent to the hospital for evaluation, though none appeared to be in serious condition.
Fire officials were able to contain the damage to the victim’s unit.
All other residents were able to return to their homes after authorities cleared the area.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation at this time.
