BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A young man was rescued from a burning vehicle early Thursday after a wreck on Garden State Parkway near Saddle Brook, reports Daily Voice.
New Jersey State Police troopers were called to the scene of the fiery accident near the southbound tolls, shortly before 2:00 a.m.
Authorities said a passing EMS veteran stopped along the parkway after witnessing a car travel off the roadway and hit a sound barrier.
The Good Samaritan said he was able to pull the driver and sole occupant out of the vehicle as flames appeared in the interior compartment. Shortly after, the vehicle became engulfed in fire.
The victim, who was initially alert and communicating with first responders, later suffered an apparent seizure resulting from a head injury. He was rushed by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s trauma unit.
