UNION COUNTY, NJ — A man has died following a two-vehicle crash Monday morning at a Linden intersection that left multiple others injured, according to local media.

Linden Police said the fatal accident occurred in the area of North Wood Avenue and West Gibbons Street, just after 10:00 a.m.

An early investigation indicates that the man was driving a GMC SUV when he tried to turn left onto West Gibbons Street. Shortly after, the GMC collided with a Chevy SUV that was heading southbound on North Wood Avenue.

The scene prompted a large emergency response as ambulances and police vehicles arrived.

The Chevy’s five occupants were taken to Newark University Hospital with injuries determined to be non-life-threatening.

First responders had the GMC driver rushed to RWJUH Rahway Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. He has since been identified as Robert Poznanski.

An investigation into the cause and circumstances of the crash remains ongoing. Anyone who may have relevant information is urged to contact Investigator Michael Rozycki at (201) 306-6955 or via email at mrozycki@lpdnj.org.
