MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — A 59-year-old Linden man died early Thursday after his vehicle was hit by an out-of-control semi-truck off U.S. Route 9 in Parlin, reports local media.
The collision took place at 912 U.S. 9 South, in front of the Exxon gas station, at about 5:16 a.m.
An early investigation found that the victim, Renan Perez, was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger when he began turning right into the station. At the same time, a Kenworth truck traveled off the roadway and entered a grassy area before striking the Ford Ranger in the station’s driveway. The impact of the crash sent the Kenworth further into the station, leaving extensive damage to the structure’s exterior.
Perez was rushed to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, confirmed officials.
An investigation by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Sayreville Police Department remains ongoing. No pending charges have been reported as of this writing.
