MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — A 51-year-old Jersey City man died Thursday after his pickup truck rolled and was hit by another vehicle on U.S. Route 1 in Woodbridge, reports NJ Advance Media.
The fatal collision occurred on the southbound lanes near New Jersey Route 35 at about 9:32 p.m. Thanksgiving night.
Woodbridge Township Police said the victim was driving a pickup truck southbound on Route 1, when, for reasons still being investigated, the pickup struck a median and rolled over. Moments later, the vehicle was hit by a stolen car in the southbound lane.
First responders rushed the Jersey City man to Edison’s JFK University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The stolen vehicle’s three occupants, all Elizabeth residents aged 23, 19 and 17, were each charged with “receiving stolen property.
A full investigation into the two related crashes remains underway.
