ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A vehicle crash Friday morning closed two left lanes on the New Jersey Turnpike for nearly an hour in Newark, according to 511NJ TPK.
The accident took place on the southbound lanes of the turnpike’s Western Spur, north of Interchange 15E to U.S. Route 1 and 9. It was first recorded by 511 at 10:49 a.m.
Officials have not provided details regarding the circumstances of the wreck, but two left lanes out of three total lanes were blocked as a result.
The closure remained in place for nearly an hour, suggesting a significant crash.

By 11:48 a.m., the involved vehicles had been moved to the right shoulder, restoring all travel lanes to traffic.
