Child hospitalized after car crashes into utility pole on Route 17

UPPER SADDLE RIVER, NJ – A child was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Route 17 early yesterday morning that caused a utility pole to be split in half, according to the Daily Voice.

The crash occurred on northbound Rt. 17 near E Crescent Avenue at about 3:30 a.m., when the 36-year-old driver of a Ford Escape went off the side of the highway and collided with a utility pole. The impact caused the pole to be split in two.

A juvenile passenger was taken to the hospital as a result of the crash.

The other three occupants of the vehicle were not hurt.

The accident remains under investigation.
