The collision took place near the ramp to New Jersey Route 21, shortly before 2:00 p.m.
An early investigation indicates one car rear-ended another vehicle, causing both vehicles to catch fire. Officials have not specified how a third vehicle was involved, but three drivers were able to safely escape their vehicles.
Local firefighters were able to arrive at the scene shortly after the wreck and begin extinguishing the flames, which were said to have engulfed the vehicles.
The onramp was shut down for nearly an hour during the initial investigation and scene clearance.
