BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Five people, including two teens, were seriously hurt early Monday in a rollover crash during a possible road rage incident near Alpine, reports Daily Voice.
The hit-and-run crash occurred on U.S. Route 9W near Montammy Golf Club and was first reported shortly after midnight.
An early investigation indicates at least two teens and three other passengers were traveling on Route 9W when they became engaged in an incident with people traveling in at least one other vehicle. The event appeared to lead to the victims’ car crashing in front of the golf club while the other vehicle(s) fled the scene.
All five occupants in the victim vehicle suffered severe injuries, but one was able to call authorities.
The two teens were rushed by ambulance to HUMC’s trauma unit, while another occupant was transported to Teaneck’s Holy Name Hospital and Medical Center. Two other passengers were taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson.
An investigation remains ongoing.
