BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Four people died early Friday after a shuttle van accident that hurt eight others on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Englewood Cliffs, reports NJ.com.
The fatal wreck occurred on the southbound lanes of the parkway, north of Exit 1 to East Palisades Avenue. It was first reported at about 1:30 a.m.
Few details have been released, but Palisades Interstate Parkway Police said a Ford Econoline 350 passenger van transporting factory workers overturned. Multiple passengers were trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated.
Four people died on the scene as a result of their injuries and eight others were transported to local hospitals. Among the survivors, injuries ranged from major head trauma to “minor physical complaints.”
An investigation was being led by local police, the Bergen County Prosecutors’s Office Fatal Accident Unit, and the sheriff’s office.
