BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Two Wayne residents were hurt Tuesday due to a two-vehicle wreck on Ramapo Valley Road in Oakland, reports Daily Voice.

Oakland Police said the accident occurred a span of road (U.S. Route 202) near Oakland Diner.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 58-year-old woman was lighting a cigarette while driving a KIA. At one point, the vehicle veered past the double-yellow lines and collided with a Honda Pilot driven by a 65-year-old woman.

Firefighters worked to extricate the causing driver, who was trapped after the KIA’s front fender was left wedged into the driver’s side door, causing it to be jammed. After being removed from the wreckage, she was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson for reported chest pains. She was issued a summons for her failure to maintain a lane.

Authorities said the driver of the Pilot suffered a contusion on her lower arm.

No other information has been made available at this time.
