UNION COUNTY, NJ — Two people were hurt, one seriously, Wednesday afternoon due to a two-vehicle wreck on the Garden State Parkway in Clark, reports local media.

The accident occurred on the southbound lanes at milepost 136.5, at about 1:53 p.m.

According to New Jersey State Police, 54-year-old Maxine L. Uecker, of Port Jervis, New York, was operating a Chevrolet SUV at the same time Jefferey S. Turner, a local resident, was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck.

Both vehicles were traveling southbound when Uecker veered off the right side of the roadway, causing the Chevy SUV to hit a guardrail. The impact of the crash sent the SUV back into the roadway, where it then struck the front of the Chevrolet pickup.

Uecker, who was ejected from the SUV, suffered serious injuries.

NJSP said Turner reported minor injuries.

No other information has been disclosed at this time, as an investigation remains in progress.
