2 children hit, seriously hurt by vehicle in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC COUNTY, NJ — Two juveniles were seriously injured Wednesday morning in a pedestrian crash at an Atlantic City intersection, according to Daily Voice.

The incident took place at the corner of Maryland Avenue and Magellan Avenue. Atlantic City patrol officers responded to the scene shortly after 8:14 a.m.

Atlantic City Police have not disclosed the circumstances behind the event, but two juvenile pedestrians, ages 10 and 14, had entered the roadway to cross Maryland Avenue. Moments later, both children were hit by a southbound vehicle driven by a 45-year-old Pleasantville man.

The victims were rushed by ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for treatment of serious injuries.

Authorities said the driver immediately stopped his vehicle following the contact and stayed at the scene.

No charges have been reported as of this writing. An investigation by the Atlantic City Police Department remains ongoing.
