ATLANTIC COUNTY, NJ — A 34-year-old woman died Thursday evening after a multi-vehicle crash that injured three others, including a child, in Hamilton Township, reports NJ.com.

Authorities said the fatal accident occurred on Millville Avenue just west of Pittsburgh Avenue, at about 5:45 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found that the woman was driving an SUV eastbound on Millville Avenue. As her vehicle neared the “S” curve west of Pittsburgh Avenue, it hit a guardrail and entered the westbound lanes. Moments later, the woman’s SUV collided with a second SUV driven by a 50-year-old woman, and then a third SUV driven by a 44-year-old man.

The driver of the first SUV was pronounced deceased on the scene, confirmed authorities.

Both of the other drivers, who suffered injuries considered non-life-threatening, were transported to an area hospital.

A 5-year-old passenger in one of the vehicles was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital. The severity of their injuries remains unclear, but they were listed in stable condition.

As first responders worked the scene, traffic was diverted from the area for nearly four hours.

An investigation by the Hamilton Police Department remains ongoing.
