PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — One person died early Saturday morning following a collision on Route 21 in Passaic, reports local media.
The fatal accident occurred on the northbound side of NJ-21 approaching Exit 11B, near River Drive and State Street. Passaic police were dispatched to the scene at around 1:25 a.m.
Authorities have not specified the cause of the crash, but officers learned two vehicles were involved, and that the impact had caused one car to catch on fire.
Crews worked to extinguish the flames, but one person was pronounced deceased on the scene.
An investigation was being handled by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and a Crime Scene Unit.
No further information has been made available as of this writing, and no charges have been reported.
