BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 20-year-old man died early Sunday after a rollover crash on the Garden State Parkway in Paramus that seriously hurt another young adult, reports Daily Voice.
New Jersey State Police said the fatal wreck occurred on the southbound side of the parkway near Exit 160, just north of Midland Avenue. It was first reported at about 2:45 a.m.
A preliminary investigation found that the young man, an Englewood resident, was driving a Nissan southbound with a passenger from Woodcliff Lake, also 20. At one point, for reasons still unknown, the vehicle veered to the right of the roadway and traveled down an embankment. It then collided with multiple trees before rolling over. The impact of the crash caused one occupant to eject, and for the other to be pinned under the wreckage.
Officials confirmed the driver, identified as Jadon Johnson, died as a result of injuries suffered in the accident.
His passenger, whose identity remains undisclosed, was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries. No updates on the patient’s condition have been made available.
An investigation by New Jersey State Police remains ongoing.
