TENAFLY, NJ – One woman is dead and a girl injured after a pedestrian crash early Sunday morning, according to News Break.
While crossing the intersection of Engle Street and Hillside Avenue, the two were struck by an 82-year-old driver turning left from a stop sign onto Engle Street in a 2009 Honda Accord. Authorities say the crash occurred around 7:30am that morning.
The driver went to a nearby home to ask for assistance to call 911, according to police. Officers and members of the Tenafly Volunteer Ambulance Corps arrived at the scene before transporting the woman and girl to the Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. The woman was pronounced dead soon after, while the girl was treated for non life-threatening lower extremity injuries.
No summons were issued to the driver at the scene, but one is forthcoming for failing to yield to pedestrians.
