MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ – A 69-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing outside of a crossing walk on Route 35 in Shrewsbury on Tuesday evening.
According to Nj.com, the man was attempting to cross Route 35 near Avenue at the Common when he was hit at about 6:15 p.m. He was not using a marked crosswalk when the accident occurred.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and died shortly thereafter. He has been identified as Tamar Carseladze.
The driver, a woman, was taken for treatment to a local hospital. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening and she was released. At this time, no summonses have been issued.
The accident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office or local police who are conducting the investigation.
