PARAMUS, NJ – Two people were extricated from their vehicle using the Jaws of Life after a multi-vehicle accident on Route 17 in Paramus on Thursday.
According to Daily Voice, at about 1:45 p.m. a Nissan Sentra was rear-ended by a Hyundai Sonata in the right lanes of northbound Route 17 near Midland Avenue. The impact pushed the Sentra into a Ford pickup and into a tractor-trailer. The truck spun the sedan into the center barrier.
Emergency crews used the Jaws of Life to extricate a 27-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy from the Sentra. They were transported from the scene to Hackensack University Medical Center. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The driver of the Sonata, a 26-year-old, was ticketed for careless driving.
