PRESTON COUNTY, WV – A man from New Jersey was the victim of a fatal accident in Preston County on Sunday afternoon, according to WAJR.
Authorities identified the victim as 42-year-old, Kanhai John, from Jersey City, New Jersey. The accident happened just after noon on Sunday in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 68 at mile marker 19. John was driving a truck carrying barrels of a dangerous chemical when he lost control of his vehicle.
The truck struck the center divide and rolled, breaking into several sections.
The truck was also carrying two passengers, one of whom was John’s wife. Both were able to get out of the vehicle and were transported for treatment to Ruby Medical Hospital.
John was unable to get out of the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was closed for multiple hours after the accident.
