TEANECK, NJ –  A man is under arrest in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a woman on the New Jersey Turnpike, northjersey.com reports.

Authorities say the victim, 21-year-old Jada Smith of Teaneck, had been involved in a car accident the night of June 4 that left her Honda CRV disabled in the right lane in Fort Lee.

When she left her car, she was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer driven by Joel Lasanta of Kissimmee, Florida, according to investigators.  Lasanta allegedly fled the scene, continuing south on the turnpike.

He was arrested Saturday by New Jersey State Police at the Clara Barton Service Area in Pedricktown, and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and hindering apprehension.
