SAUCON TOWNSHIP, NJ – NJ.com reports that a woman whose grandchildren died in a car accident while she was behind the wheel on Sept. 14, 2016 has pleaded no contest Monday morning to 2 of 20 charges she faced.
Nadine Walton, 58, was driving a 2011 Nissan Versa in the left lane at 12:56 a.m. when she drifted off the highway while her grandchildren, a 5-year-old boy and 2-year-old girl, were in the backseat.
Walton attempted to swerve back across the highway, collided with the guard rail, and crashed with a 2014 Kia Forte driven by David B. Getz, 26, and 1996 Dodge Caravan driven by Michael Gura, 49. Both of the other drivers were injured, according to police.
The 5-year-old boy, Ravon Xavier Robinson, was pronounced dead at the scene. His 2-year-old sister, Brielle Javlyn Robinson, died from her injuries on Sept. 16.
Police allegedly found numerous alcohol of containers in the car with even more lying outside on the scene.
After searching Walton’s purse a marijuana bag along with a marijuana blunt, and 42 Oxycodone pills were found.
A blood test, showed the presence of marijuana in Walton’s body, which concludes that she was impaired at the time of the accident from marijuana use or lack of sleep.
