EDISON, NJ – According to My Central Jersey, a Plainfield man convicted of driving under the influence and killing a 70-year-old woman in 2015 has lost his appeal.
Chiweze Ebere, 33, is said to be serving eight years at Southern State Correctional Facility and will not be eligible for parole until April 14, 2022.
Court papers confirm that on June 27, 2015 Ebere was driving a Jeep Cherokee on Route 1 at about 11:30 p.m. when he ran a red light at the Plainfield Avenue intersection.
Ebere struck an Acura sedan when Wupiju Lin, 70, was the passenger and later died from her injuries.
It was Ebere’s third DWI conviction and the prosecutor’s decided to drop charges of aggravated manslaughter and causing the death of another while driving with a revoked license.
