MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — A 30-year-old man from New Brunswick died Saturday evening after his vehicle went off a roadway and into Lake Nelson in Piscataway, reports Daily Voice.
City officials said the accident occurred off of Metlars Lane at around 6:51 p.m.
Preliminary details show the man was driving northbound on the road when his SUV slammed through a guardrail and traveled into the lake.
Multiple Piscataway Township Police Department patrol officers and a Lake Nelson resident went into the water in an attempt to rescue the male driver.
The victim was rushed to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Somerset Dive Team was called to the scene to secure the submerged vehicle for its removal from the lake.
