Child pedestrian critically hurt in Bridgeton hit-and-run

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NJ — A 10-year-old girl is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a Bridgeton road Wednesday evening, reports Daily Voice.

The incident took place on East Broad Street, in front of a Wawa convenience store, at around 7:07 p.m.

Authorities have not detailed the events leading up to the crash, but an early investigation indicates the young girl was hit by a white SUV. The vehicle was then seen fleeing northbound on Bank Street Extension toward East Commerce Street.

First responders had the victim flown to Cooper University Hospital. No updates on her condition have been released since.
