Motorcyclist dies after crash on Frelinghuysen Ave in Newark

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A man was killed Thursday evening in a major motorcycle crash near Newark Liberty International Airport, according to local media.

The fatal accident was reported in the area of 466 Frelinghuysen Avenue by witnesses who said they heard an explosion in the area. Newark Police and EMS personnel responded to the scene after receiving the call at about 7:40 p.m.

Details remain limited, but first responders arrived to find the rider, who had been ejected in the crash, suffering from extensive injuries. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

A section of Frelinghuysen Avenue from Newark Long Term Parking to Pink Elephant Long Term Parking was shut down during the response and initial investigation.
