Pedestrian hospitalized after crash on Nesbitt St in Newark

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A man was sent to a hospital Wednesday night after being hit by a vehicle in Newark’s University Heights neighborhood, reports local media.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Nesbitt Street and Orange Street, south of Interstate 280. Newark Police and EMS personnel responded to the scene at around 9:25 p.m.

Authorities have not disclosed the sequence of events leading up to the crash, but first responders arrived to find a male victim with non-life-threatening injuries. The patient, who was rushed to University Hospital, is expected to make a recovery.

No one else was reported injured.

No charges have been reported at this time as Newark Police continues to investigate.
