PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ – Four people were hospitalized Monday morning after a multi-vehicle wreck on Route 23 in Wayne, reports Daily Voice.

At around mid-morning, Wayne police and firefighters were called to the scene on the northbound highway at the lighted intersection just past Wayne Chester Plaza.

Details remain limited, but three vehicles, including a private ambulance, were involved. First responders arrived to find three people trapped in wreckage. Firefighters had to use battery-powered and hydraulic tools to extricate the occupants, causing traffic to back up in both directions.

Four patients were ultimately transported to a local hospital. No information on their conditions have been shared, but authorities said no serious injuries were reported.

An investigation by the Wayne Police Department remains ongoing. No pending charges have been confirmed at this time.
