Teen left critically hurt after I-287 crash in Bridgewater

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — An 18-year-old Rockaway resident was hospitalized early Sunday after a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 287 in Bridgewater, reports Daily Voice.

New Jersey State Police said the accident happened on the southbound express lanes at about 1:25 a.m.

According to officials, the teen was driving an Infiniti southbound when, for reasons still unknown, the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and hit several trees.

The teen driver, who was ejected in the crash, was rushed to a local hospital with major injuries. Facing a long recovery, he has since undergone multiple surgeries and remains hospitalized.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved, and no other injuries have been reported in the event.
