MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — An 81-year-old woman died Saturday evening after a multi-vehicle crash on New Jersey Route 42 in Monroe Township, according to Daily Voice.
The fatal collision occurred on the northbound highway (North Black Horse Pike) at Brookdale Boulevard, at about 6:41 p.m.
An early investigation by Monroe Township Police shows a 33-year-old Sicklerville man was driving a 2012 Ford Edge northbound when it hit a 2019 GMC Terrain entering NJ-42 from Brookdale Boulevard. The impact of the wreck sent the Ford over the center median, where it collided with a 2021 Nissan Rogue that was in the left turn-only lane of the highway’s southbound side.
Officials said the front-seat passenger of the GMC suffered major injuries and was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the GMC, an 84-year-old Hammonton resident, along with two juevniles in the Nissan, also sustained injuries.
Monroe Township Police confirmed the driver of the Ford has since been charged with DWI and assault by auto.
