MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — One person was fatally injured late Tuesday night due to a single-vehicle crash on Route 18 in east New Brunswick, reports local media.
The accident happened near the intersection with Tunison Road. New Brunswick police and first responders were called to the scene at around 11:50 p.m.
An early investigation suggests the driver veered off the roadway before their vehicle collided with a tree, leaving them trapped.
Responding officers discovered the driver seriously injured inside an extensively damaged vehicle.
The victim received CPR from first responders at the scene before they were rushed to an area hospital. Shortly after, the patient was pronounced deceased.
No other injuries have been reported, and no other vehicles appeared to have been involved.
Officials with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office were alerted about the collision.
