HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A truck became engulfed in flames Tuesday morning after a crash with a car on the New Jersey Turnpike in Kearny, according to local media.
The accident occurred on the southbound lanes of the turnpike’s Western Spur, near Exit 15W to Interstate 280. Emergency responders arrived on the scene shortly after 5:32 a.m.
It was unclear what caused the initial crash, but firefighters and New Jersey State Police had all lanes blocked as they tended to the scene.
Officers conducted a search of the area for possible victims who may have been ejected in the crash. At this time, no serious injuries have been reported despite the heavy blaze.
An investigation was underway.
